Market Folly: Investing & Trading Books: Recommended Reading List

This is a good list..I will quote from it in my thesis about hedge fund operators. I also learned a lot about hedge fund trading strategies from 2 other great books. Hedge Fund Trading Secrets Revealed..by Robert Dorfman..and Confessions of a Street Addict of course by Jim Cramer..written before he got really famous..both are riveting and very informative. You should check them out if you like reading behind the scenes stuff about hedge fund and what methods they use..….. my winning ratio is now better than ever.

    hey milt,

thanks for the comment. Yea those books are both definitely on the list! We're just releasing 5 books each month instead of just flooding one giant list. Great reads for sure and they'll be on a list in a future month

Thanks for the book list. I'm from Fisher Investments, and we have a daily financial news/commentary site, MarketMinder.com, which provides investors an interesting read from the Fisher Investments perspective. Fisher Investments has teamed up with John Wiley & Sons to create a new publishing imprint, Fisher Investments Press, which is dedicated to bringing compelling financial investing information to individual and professional investors. Check out a recent article from MarketMinder.com on the bank stress tests: http://www.marketminder.com/a/fisher-investment...

Interesting recommended reading list. I'm with Fisher Investments and I believe another must-read investment book is by Philip Fisher’s son, Ken Fisher, called The Only Three Questions that Count. In it, Ken outlines the important questions investors should be asking themselves prior to investing in the market. It was well received by both independent investors and people in the financial services trade.

I am disappointed with this list. big time.. neither it cover fundamentals analysis or valuation.. it has antique valuation / speculation books

And how the hell el-erian's book end up in this list.. small wonder..

Sorry to hear you are disappointed. The security analysis book covers fundamental analysis very in-depth with a focus on balance sheets etc. The Intelligent Investor covers value investing principles. Reminiscences covers trading and so does Jack Schwager's book.

El Erian's book is a bit misplaced I will admit. Curious as to what books you would supplement then if you were to create a recommended list?

Damodaran on Valuation: Security Analysis for Investment and Corporate Finance (Wiley Finance) (Hardcover)
    by Aswath Damodaran (Author)

Valuation: Measuring and Managing the Value of Companies, Fourth Edition (Hardcover)
by McKinsey & Company Inc. (Author), Tim Koller (Author), Marc Goedhart (Author), David Wessels (Author)

    would be a good start..
